Blue Sky RV Park Mountain ViewIf you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know one of my favorite place in this world is Mountain View, Arkansas. Recently, we had the opportunity to run up there again for a long weekend and once again and decided to try a new RV park, Blue Sky RV Park.

We’ve tried several of the RV parks in Mountain View like Sylamore Creek or Ozark RV Park and haven’t really disliked any of them, but rather prefer some over others for various reasons.

If we want to be on the water, Sylamore Creek used to be our go-to. If we want to be in town, Ozark RV Park has been our go-to. The nice thing about Blue Sky is that it splits the difference! It’s a GREAT place to stay when we want to be both in the water AND in town.

First things first, you can check out the RV park here.

Let’s get to the review!

BLUE SKY RV PARK REVIEW

Just like Gilbert Campground a few weeks ago on the Buffalo River, Blue Sky RV Park was so close to everything we came to do. It was about 4 miles to get to the town square (which is where all the music happens), and it was about 2 miles from the water (White River or Sylamore Creek).

Our objective for the weekend was to hear music AND enjoy some canoeing. So just being close to the town square or just being close to the water wasn’t going to cut it. We needed the best of both worlds!

CAMPGROUND CLEANLINESS 10/10

As we pulled into Blue Sky RV Park, we were greeted with a spacious, clean RV park…rival to any state park! It was beautifully kept with no debris or trash lying around.

The lots are modestly sized, some are larger, some are smaller, but none are too close together from what we saw.

There were no trashy looking RVs or anything crazy like that. In fact, there were a few really nice Class A RVs right by the entrance.

I did find it interesting that a few of the RV lots by the front of the park were stacked two per slot, end to end. That’s the first time I’ve seen that, but it wasn’t a hindrance at all. In fact, our friends stayed in one of these lots and we never even saw their neighbor.

So overall, it was a great campground, and very clean!

BATHHOUSES 8/10

This is another of those things that if you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know that I don’t care much for RV park bathroom. That being said, I try to rate them with as little prejudice as possible.

The bathrooms at this RV park were clean and functional. They need some updating, but the current owner has only owned it for a few years and has spent her time making the park itself better. I’m sure she will get to the bathrooms as time and money afford.

That’s not to say they are nasty…completely the opposite. They were very clean. It’s just that sometimes you inherit a situation that takes time to amend! 🙂

Glynn used the showers and bathrooms several times over our 4 day weekend and came out unscathed!

CAMPGROUND AMENITIES 8.5/10

One thing you need to understand about going to Mountian View, Arkansas is that it’s a place where most people go to unwind. It’s a small town and the pace is SLOOOOOWWWW!

I say that because you need to be aware that this is not NYC that you’re going to visit.

One thing most visitors to Mountain View are looking for is a picking shed…somewhere they can go to play and pick their instruments in case of inclement weather. This place has just that and several options at that.

Picking Shed

Open Picking “Stage”

It also looks like on her website like she holds actual events in that building, so that’s fun! It also looks like she has some cookouts occasionally.

The campground doesn’t have a pool or anything like that, but I think you have to understand Arkansas mentality is that we prefer our rivers and streams to pools…why build one?

The main attraction to Mountain View is 1: the music, and 2: the water. That being said, I feel that the Blue Sky RV Park amenities are irrelevant as far as me being entertained there.

The park is great…it’s a perfect place to chill in between canoeing/kayaking, fishing, swimming, and listening to the music. Plan on lazy mornings, busy mid-days on the water or at the festivals, quiet evenings, and more music in the square in the early evenings on into the nights.

TECHNOLOGY USE 9/10

You guys also know tech use is a HUGE deal to me. If I needed to blog while here, I might be upset, but the owner has an extra package (15 mbps) for that so you can purchase better access for $2.50 per day…TOTALLY worth it if you ask me!

She does offer free wifi (2 mbps), but we stayed in the back 40 of the park so the signal was weak at best.

HOWEVER, my cell phone worked PERFECTLY…signal was great from where we were. Most everything I need to do, I can do either from my phone or from using a personal hotspot. This is why I scored tech use a little higher than I might otherwise.

*One word of wisdom about this town though (and this has NOTHING to do with the RV park), this WHOLE TOWN is a tech vortex. There is almost NO cell signal anywhere in town or even on the outskirts. I was honestly amazed we had a signal at the park.

Your attitude going in needs to be that you are coming here to slow down your normal fast-paced life and enjoy the journey! Expect your smartphone to be an expensive paperweight or pocket camera and your life will be much better for it. Then if it actually works…hey, a pleasant surprise! 🙂

NEARBY ACTIVITIES 9/10

Again, if you are here for the nightlife, you will be SADLY disappointed! I suspect you’re not going to Mountain View, Arkansas for the nightlife though.

I did a whole post on Things to Do in Mountain View, check that out, but here are the bullet points:

  • Fishing on the White River (the water is SO cold!)
  • Canoeing/Kayaking on Sylamore Creek
  • Gunners Pool Recreation Area (rafting or lounging in the crystal clear, spring-fed creek)
  • Blanchard Springs Caverns (58 degrees year-round!) – several tours available
  • Blanchard Springs Rec area (great place to cool off in summer or picnic in the spring or fall)
  • Hiking
  • Biking (yes, even motorcycles)
  • Swinging Bridge
  • Loco Ropes & Ziplines
  • Escape Room
  • THE MUSIC!!!

*It’s important to note that if you like to drink alcohol of any sort, you need to bring it with you when you come. Stone County is a dry county. There is no alcohol for sale in the whole county. I would also mention that dry counties don’t take well to drunk people, so cross your T’s and dot your I’s if you do choose to drink while there! 🙂

**It’s also important to note that while there are several places to eat out, this is a city with a population of fewer than 3,000 people. We don’t expect our dietary needs to be perfectly met. If you are vegan or gluten-free or Keto diet, you may have to be creative when eating out.

All that being said, I still scored Blue Sky RV Park high with nearby activities because there’s plenty to do nearby. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, it’s one of our most favorite places to go!

STAFF 10/10

Now we’re getting to the good stuff!

Glynn met the owner, Tammy, when he checked in. He didn’t say anything either way when he got back to the camper (we pulled in late the night before). You know how it is, you get to the park, check-in, and go about your business and rarely give the staff a second thought.

During this particular visit, Glynn and I looked at an RV park for sale in town. Tammy was SUPER friendly and helpful with info about the area and what it’s like to be an RV Park owner in this town. She literally took about an hour or more out of her day to chat with us when she would’ve probably preferred to be mowing!

I found her very laid back, easy-going, and was very proud of her RV park. Pride of ownership shows around the park as well as it is well maintained.

I can’t imagine finding anyone nicer to chat with, honestly…definitely a 10/10 for friendly staff!

BLUE SKY RV PARK PRICE 10/10

I saved the best for last! You wanna know what it costed us to stay there? Of course, you do!

Here are the prices for Blue Sky RV Park:

  • $25 per night for 30 amp service
  • $30 per night for 50 amp service
  • $150 per week for 30 amp service
  • $180 per week for 50 amp service
  • $260 monthly + electricity costs
  • electricity metered sites available $100 deposit

Gotta love a nice, inexpensive RV park! I know I do!

In conclusion, Blue Sky RV park ticked all the marks for us! It’s great to finally find a place we like and feel comfortable going from here on out (unless we buy our own RV park there!). We will most likely call this our Mountain View home from here on out!
