RV Gift IdeasDo you have an RVer in your life? I know RV gift ideas can be simply IMPOSSIBLE to come up with for RVing friends/family! Most RVers don’t care about stuff for our house because we really just want to sell the dang house, get rid of ALL our stuff, and travel full-time.

Unless your RVer friend/family is already a full-timer, then that’s even WORSE!!! Full-time RVers have NO ROOM to put ANYTHING!

So, what do you get someone who wants and needs nothing and has no room to put whatever you get anyway? You get them practical gifts that don’t take up much room or meet their basic needs!

(I have two other posts for RVers who are just starting. One is for RV necessities, the other is for RV luxury items – non-necessities.)

THE BEST GIFTS:

E-BOOKS

RVers usually DO NOT NEED MORE STUFF! The best RV gift ideas for an RVer is an e-book that won’t take up more room, but something they can enjoy over and over. Here are some books for RVers, by RVers (some of these folks made it on my RV blogger round-up post!):

Liz Wilcox at TheVirtualCampground.com wrote a funny book about black tank horror stories:

Ashley Mann at RVInspiration.com also has a great book for helping RVers get organized:

…and one more along those lines is a FANTASTIC organizer made FOR TRAVELERS BY TRAVELERS. It includes blanks for campground reservations, checklists, blank bucket lists, areas to fill in to-dos for your destinations and much more! Luann at StreetsWander.com has thought of EVERYTHING!

They have three versions of this: The printed spiral bound, the printed three-hole punched, and the PDF download. To learn more about it, simply click the picture.

MEMBERSHIPS:

This is another thing you should DEFINITELY ask before buying, but there are all kinds of memberships that RVers could use.

PASSPORT AMERICA – If your RVer likes to save money, this is one discount club they will almost SURELY want to join! It only costs $44/year, but it will save the owner of the membership 50% everywhere they stay!

GOOD SAM – There seems to be a consensus among RVers that Good Sam is a crappy discount club. I get that…they only offer 10% discount on their RV parks, but the discount applies to your whole stay (Passport America is often for one night), AND you get discounts on gas at Flying J or Pilot stations. The cost of RV gift idea will run you $29/one year, $50/two years, or $75/three years.

RVers also seem to like Good Sam’s Roadside Assistance program which would also make FANTASTIC RV gift ideas. That one will set you back at least $99, depending on which options you choose.

BOONDOCKERS WELCOME – One more membership your RVing friends will LOVE is Boondockers Welcome! The annual cost of a membership is $30/one year, or $75/three years, but this will be discounted if you can host boondockers. Who doesn’t love that?

NATIONAL PARKS PASS – This is ESPECIALLY a great RV gift idea for full-time RVers. It costs $80 for a full year, and the receiver gets unlimited visits for a full year. Senior adults get a lifetime membership for the same price.

CONSUMABLE GIFTS:

Another great thing to add to our RV gift ideas list is consumable gifts…that is, gift cards. If your RVing friend is a full-time RVer, they are often on a tight budget and eating out or expensive organizational items are not affordable. Here are some great ideas for gift cards and why:

GIFT CARDS

  • Amazon – you can LITERALLY buy just about ANYTHING on Amazon.
  • Chain Restaurants – these are often good nationwide if you get something like Chili’s, Applebees, Olive Garden, Chick-fil-a, McDonald’s, Starbucks, etc. Sometimes they even sell an online version you can refill if you so choose.
  • Visa Gift Card – this covers whatever you can’t get on Amazon!
  • Walmart – you don’t need a link for that, right? Again, you can get almost everything at Walmart including gas, basic RV supplies, organizational stuff, and groceries.
  • Target – same reasons as Walmart, just cuter stuff!
  • Bed, Bath & Beyond – BBB has LOTS of things RVers might need. They have kitchen and bath items, organizational items, hangers, blankets, sheets, etc.
  • The Container Store – maybe I’m biased because I worked here for 7 years, but I don’t know what I’d do without my TCS stuff in my camper. I have organizational items in every nook and cranny of my RV. Even if you don’t have one in your area, they often run free shipping specials, especially around Christmas time.
  • Lowes/Home Depot – yes, even this one. Owning an RV is a constant struggle with maintenance and upkeep. You are living or camping in a movable home. Travel takes its toll on RVs. Even though they are designed to take it, they still need work.

If you MUST get ACTUAL gifts, ASK the receiver of the gifts to be sure they have the space to store them, or your gift will likely be returned, regifted, or donated! 🙂

GIFTS FOR OUTDOORS:

HAMMOCK $30-$70

Everyone loves hammocks, right? I know we do. This one takes up less space than a folded up towel. You can get them with or without mosquito netting. I’ll link a few here (we personally own a couple of Skeeter Beeters and love them!):

INFLATABLE LOUNGER $22-$35

Because we don’t always have trees available, we bought these dudes. I will admit that they can be tricky to inflate, but they are nice to have on the beach. I could imagine they would also be nice beside a river or somewhere too rocky for tent camping. They fold up pretty small too, so that’s an added bonus.

FOOD TENTS $13-$19

Part of the reason RVers camp is to be outdoors. The only thing about that is that bugs like flies, bees, and other insects like to enjoy your food when you eat outdoors. These food tents are collapsible, so they don’t take up much space, but they keep the bugs out!

INSULATED GOODIES

Another great RV gift idea for your RVing friends is a stainless steel insulated goodies. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Again, be sure your RVer needs one before you buy. Chances are, they already have one or two. I like to use the 30 oz ramblers because I can get refills cheap at gas stations when traveling.

SAND-FREE MATS

For your snowbird friends that migrate south, sand-free mats are great RV gift ideas!

OTHER SMALL ITEMS

ADHESIVES

Here are a few things non-RVers don’t think about. Adhering things to RV walls is NEVER an easy task. If you want to get something small or something like a stocking stuffer, here are a few RV gift ideas for that:

GOOFY STATE STICKERS

Nothing says I’ve joined the RV life like these goofy state stickers. No, they’re not really goofy, but you do feel a little bit like National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Cousin Eddie for wanting one…I do anyway. …but I still want one! LOL!

I think we should wrap it up here…I could go on and on about small things that RVers would need as RV gift ideas, but the point of this whole post is for you to think outside the box.

Remember that your RVing friends don’t have much space to store things, so thoughtful gifts that don’t take up much room are the best gifts they could receive!

Maybe a great plan of action would be to actually ask the RVer in your life what they could use. Obviously, they know what they already have and what they need still.

How about you…do you have any more great RV gift ideas you don’t see here?
