Travel Planner ReviewHave you ever sat down to plan an RV trip and just didn’t know where to start? Or how about already having a trip planned and can’t remember if you paid for your site or not…or if you even reserved your spot for sure…or which site was it…or which PARK was it? I have FINALLY found an RV travel planner made FOR RVers, BY RVers to help combat this problem.

First things first, let’s get some honesty out of the way…I found this planner (and eventually purchased it) out of pure curiosity. The creator posted it in a Facebook group we are both a part of as an affiliate sales option for the rest of us and I wanted to see what it was all about (read: STALKING…sorry Luann!).

WHAT NORMAL IS FOR US

Just so you have the scoop…I am, by nature, NOT a planner. I am a “fly by the seat of my pants” kind of person.

You’re going camping tomorrow and want to know if we’d like to join? OH, HECK YEAH!!! COUNT US IN!!! Oh, wait…THE PARK HAS NO VACANCIES?! This is 2018…WHY NOT?! LOL!

Lame, I know! But this is the honest truth! Now again, being honest here, we are still weekend warriors (not full-timers), so it is often the case that we CAN get up and go like this and it RARELY bites us in the rear. We almost ALWAYS find a spot to camp when friends call us on the spur of the moment.

Normally, if we do happen to plan ahead (as we did camping at Petit Jean State Park a few weeks ago), I will put the date, location, site #, and whether or not we paid in my phone calendar with two reminders both two weeks ahead, and a week ahead.

This works for our weekends away. However, if the upcoming years prove to be anything like this last year, this method will not be NEARLY as sufficient as it has been in the past.

THE COMPLETE RV TRAVEL PLANNER

Travel Planner Front Cover

This is where Luann Street’s Complete RV Travel Planner comes into play. She blogs over at https://streetswander.com/.

Even though I purchased this thing as a blogging educational tool (researching other RV bloggers’ products), I can honestly see using it…and using it like a Bible…like all the time. This would be ESPECIALLY true if we were full-time RVers. Let’s keep being honest here…we went on 17 different mini-trips this year, most of which were RV trips. We travel A LOT!

While I am an EXTREMELY digital person, I am also a VERY visual person. I actually like having a calendar out in front of me so that I can see the coming weeks ahead and what’s planned.

Let me give you some more details on the planner.

I think the best way to give you the scoop on the Complete RV Travel Planner is to just simply answer some questions that I had before I bought it…so here we go.

WHO IS THE RV TRAVEL PLANNER FOR?

I would venture to say that if you only camped once or twice a year, my method of shooting from the hip might be ok and you could forego buying this planner.

However, Glynn and I (and many of our friends) are just NOT those people! We all FIRMLY believe that we bought our campers for recreational use and we intend to use them as such instead of just REALLY EXPENSIVE yard art!

I would say that this travel planner is for someone who is either a full-time RVer or someone who is in their camper 3 seasons out of the year. If you camp more than 2-3 times per year, you could use this baby, or even if you plan more than 6 mos in advance…it’d be great for you, too!

If you are an extremely digital person, this might not be the planner for you, but I’d still recommend checking it out anyway because you won’t find anything else like it.

This is a struggle I deal with myself…I want to access my info all on my phone or Google Docs, but I also want a printed visual travel planner. #thestruggleisreal

Young, old, organized, not organized, I think this travel planner would work for just about anyone.

WHAT’S INSIDE?

Travel Planner Basic Info

This is why I fell in love with this planner so much. Luann has LITERALLY thought of EVERYTHING.

When you open it up, one of the first pages you see is a page to fill out your own RV’s vital info from the make and model all the way down to dimensions and weight capacities of it.

Along with some other basic info like that, The Complete RV Travel Planner also includes:Travel Planner Week

  • Bucket List pages
  • Dream Pages
  • Year at a Glance Calendars
  • Pages for notes (including pages designed for campground hunting…you need blank pages for this!)
  • Month at a Glance Calendars
  • 2-page weekly spreads (including nightly RV park reservation info)
  • Blank RV packing list pages
  • Pages for relevant phone numbers and addresses
  • Pages for passwords (which I would NEVER use…if you struggle with passwords, look up LastPass).
  • Future Travel Idea pages
  • Pages for notes on each state (WHAT A FANTASTIC IDEA!)
  • …and cute motivational quotes about travel throughout the book!

Travel Planner Campground Log

This list is SUPER OVER SIMPLIFIED! There are 328 pages in the PDF version. I’m not sure if they’re all the same, but I think it’s safe to say that Luann has thought of almost EVERYTHING!

I LOVE the fact that I can write notes when I’m hunting RV parks…this is often a tedious endeavor that really does require note-taking. She has made this an easy task for us with convenient checkboxes for amenities and park features.

Another thing I LOVE is the pages for notes on each state. How many times have I been camping when someone tells me about this super cool place near their home? Do you think I remember it even a week later? That’s a big fat NOPE!

IS THIS A PHYSICAL PRODUCT?

This is another bonus in my mind…The Complete RV Travel Planner comes in three different formats.

I know there are those who would probably prefer the 3-hole punched, but I think I would prefer the spiral-bound travel planner. It doesn’t take up much space and could be easily stowed away in an easy to access location.

I actually bought the PDF version just to see what it was all about. BTW, this would make a PERFECT Christmas Gift Idea for an RVer (hint, hint!). 🙂 You can check out my RV gift idea post from a few weeks ago for that list, though!

One thing you should probably know is that the PDF version is not fillable. It is only for looksies and for printing as needed. You CANNOT fill it out digitally. If I had one disappointment with it, that would be it! *Pre-post update: Luann has informed me that they are working on getting the PDF version fillable which should be available early 2019, and have some other exciting news that I will wait to mention until it happens for sure!

HOW MUCH IS DOES IT COST?

When I first got into real estate several years ago, I bought a planner that was similar in shape and size to The Complete RV Travel Planner. I know I paid every bit of $50 or $60 for that planner, but it was SUPER extensive and customizable.

Because of that planner that I bought, I know the Streets are SPOT ON with their pricing on this travel planner.

The spiral-bound version is $47.97 (includes tabs for quick reference), the 3-hole punched version is $39.99, and the PDF version is $19.97 (keep in mind you will get this one free with the purchase of either of the others).

HOW DO I GET MY COPY?

Simple, click this link and go to the bottom of the page to order. Be sure to read through their FAQs to tie up any unanswered questions you may have.

PROS AND CONS

Honestly, the only con I can think of is that the PDF isn’t fillable. I would prefer to have a fillable PDF version so that I had the freedom to choose whether or not I wanted a printed version. Then I would most likely keep my PDF version in my Google Docs so that I’d have access to it any time, day or night for filling out or notetaking from my phone. (As mentioned, Luann is working on a solution for techies!)

Not to mention the fact that I’m fairly forgetful and lose things often. Losing, leaving, or otherwise maiming this travel planner is DEFINITELY in the realm of possibilities in my camper. If I had a fillable PDF version, it would stay safe and sound and I’d never lose it.

That being said, the website makes a great point that you don’t always have a signal to be able to access it digitally when you’re camping. This is a good, solid argument.

Obvious pros to me are that you could have all of your travel itineraries in one convenient place, and have it at an arm’s reach at any given time.

It’s printed (even though I’d love a digital one, this is still a pro to me), so you can see everything all on one page and sort of have a journal of all your travels. It’s also a great place to store future plans for campsites and travel locations.

Also, I think the printed version would be perfect to be able to take it out and show others where you are going and when. We often coordinate our travel plans with friends, so this would make it super simple.

For people like me who prefer digitalness (is that a word…spellchecker isn’t fussing, so it must be!), you could always take a picture of your calendar to share it with friends or family.

I think I’ve made it fairly clear that I am a fan of this travel planner. I like the thoroughness of it, I like how well thought out it is, and I like the design.

Do you have another way to keep up with your travel plans, or do you have this planner? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
